About Us

The David Busby Centre has been a leader for over 28 years in reducing the impacts of poverty, homelessness, insufficient employment, addiction and mental health issues in Barrie and area.

As a proud member of the Simcoe Alliance to End Homelessness, we work with our partner agencies and our dedicated community to meet the needs of everyone who accesses our services.

Our services include:

Drop-in Resource Centre at 88 Mulcaster Street: • Basic needs: Access to showers, toiletries, healthy food & snacks etc. • Brief services case management support • Many Community Partners

Onsite • Housing search support

Street Outreach Programs • DETOUR Community Response

Team • Van Outreach Team • Community referrals • Brief crisis support • Shelter Access Support

Supportive Housing • Onsite support for Lucy’s Place Supportive Housing. This is a partnership with Redwood Park Communities. Emergency Group Lodging • Overnight emergency accommodation (formerly Out of the Cold programs) and Shelter Diversion referral in Barrie and Collingwood

Housing First Case Management • Support those experiencing chronic homelessness to obtain & maintain housing • Life skills enhancement • Physical & Mental health support

Voluntary Trustee Program • Financial assistance • Life skills development

Peer/Lived Experience Empowerment and Skills Development Program • Ambassador program

COVID-19 Advisory

In response to evolving data around the Delta variant and based on the recent experiences of other jurisdictions, the government, in consultation with Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, is pausing the exit from the Roadmap to Reopen.

The Chief Medical Officer of Health and other health experts will continue to monitor the data to determine when it is safe to exit the Roadmap and lift the majority of public health and workplace safety measures currently in place.
