Santa Claus Parade and Downtown Barrie Tree Lighting

The 2011 Santa Claus Parade was a great success enjoyed by young and old alike. The Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the many sponsors of this year’s parade, in particular, PowerStream Inc., D&R Electronics, Rogers TV, Pizza Pizza, Telequip Systems Ltd., Hedbern Homes, Winmar Property Restoration Specialists, Coco Paving, First Response Ontario, Ken Winter Sanitation Inc., The Barrie Examiner, Superior Tire & Auto, Sybran Property Maintenance, Innisbrook Golf Course Ltd., and St. Onge Recreation. Many thanks also to Barrie Police Service, Barrie Auxiliary Police, and to the Justice & Public Safety Institute and Law & Security Administration volunteers who helped to ensure the safety of our participants and attendees.

Many thanks as well to the volunteers, spectators, and participants in this year's parade - your enthusiasm and creativity was a significant factor in the success of the parade, and we are glad that you were able to share in this exciting event with us.

This was our first year working with Downtown Barrie to combine the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony with the parade, and we definitely enjoyed the added excitement that the tree lighting brought to the overall event.

Many thanks as well to Santa who made time during this very busy holiday season to visit the children of Barrie!!

Over 45 local groups and businesses entered the parade this year, and they all deserve recognition; everyone did a tremendous job, and the lights, colours, and music were fantastic; truly magical!
