Santa Claus Parade and Downtown Barrie Tree Lighting

The 2012 Santa Claus Parade was a great success enjoyed by young and old alike. The Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the many sponsors of this year’s parade, in particular, PowerStream Inc., Rogers TV, Pizza Pizza, First Response Ontario, The Barrie Examiner,  Sybran Property Maintenance, WinMar, Arnold Construction and St. Onge Recreation. Many thanks also to Barrie Police Service, Barrie Auxiliary Police, and Police Foundations, Community and Justice Services and Protection, Security and Investigation Students from the Orillia Campus of Georgian College, and to the volunteers who helped to ensure the safety of our participants and attendees.

Many thanks as well to the spectators and participants in this year's parade - your enthusiasm and creativity was a significant factor in the success of the parade, and we are glad that you were able to share in this exciting event with us.

This was our second year working with Downtown Barrie to combine the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony with the parade, and we definitely enjoyed the added excitement that the tree lighting brought to the overall event. New this year was the added element of Christmas videos played before and after the Parade, Home Alone and the classic animated How The Grinch Stole Christmas!

Many thanks as well to Santa who made time during this very busy holiday season to visit the children of Barrie!!

Over 45 local groups and businesses entered the parade this year, and they all deserve recognition; everyone did a tremendous job, and the lights, colours, and music were fantastic; truly magical!

Congratulations to the winners of the 2012 Santa Claus Parade:
