Over the past few months, the Barrie Chamber of Commerce has been working with several other chambers across Ontario to put together a recommendation for the evolution of provincial operating restrictions. Now that the pandemic has been identified as a longer term health hazard, it is time for the framework to adapt, and shift to the model of "Responsible Business Protocol" that is used for other workplace health and safety risks.
Please see the below letter, sent on behalf of 7 chambers of commerce and boards of trade in Ontario, recommending further COVID-19 operating restriction reform. The letter outlines a Responsible Business Protocol and recommends that the Province enact frameworks that will combat COVID-19, build consumer and business confidence, and avoid unduly harming the economy.
We will be calling on local businesses to engage with this initiative in the coming weeks to continue communicating this need for change.
