Each year, Barrie Chamber members give generously towards a welcome package for the new residents practicing family medicine in our community. We are again supporting this important program that helps encourage new family doctors to stay in our community, and we are asking for your help.
RVH welcomed 9 new residents on July 1st who will live and learn in our community for the next two years, and we are putting together a welcome package to help integrate them into the community. If you have 9 items that your business can donate, please drop them off at the Chamber office by noon on Monday September 14th, or email admin@barriechamber.com so we can arrange pick-up.
RVH entered into a partnership with the University of Toronto's Department of Family and Community Medicine to establish the FMTU, the final-two years of residency training for family medicine residents. The program welcomed its first Resident Physicians in 2009 and since that time, 28 Residents have graduated from the program and 18 have stayed in the Barrie Area. This is vitally important to our community as it is estimated there are 40,000 people without access to a local primary care physician.
Barrie's business community has been a vital part of the success of this program. Past residents have remarked that your generosity really does make them feel welcomed to the community and sets an incredible first impression.
